UNT System Enterprise IT Transformation
The UNT System Enterprise IT department is undergoing a strategic transformation to better align its service delivery, organizational structure, and business interaction model with the overall enterprise strategies. This transformation is a result of a Protiviti-led IT organizational review of the entire UNT System Enterprise that evaluated current IT organizational structure and capabilities, strategy and existing governance models, and overall operating models and capability maturity.
The transformation of our IT operations will result in restructuring IT teams and core services under a single organizational and leadership structure. This effort will help us establish robust IT career path options for our employees, create greater transparency, efficiencies, as well as optimized costs structures, and enhanced security and service delivery. By establishing a solid organizational foundation, we will be better positioned to create a more reliable, flexible operation that has the capacity to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Finally, we believe this transformation will help us break down current silos, eliminate single points of failure, increase available resources, and enable us to make dependable data-driven decisions.
Chancellor Williams has asked Juan Serrano, UNT System Chief Information Officer, to lead this effort and see that it is a collaborative, seamless transformation, and that we are maximizing our resources and leveraging our expertise across the System.
We will continue to provide consistent communication and conduct town halls to ensure everyone is up to date on changes, progress, and opportunities to make this successful.

Dear Colleagues,
I hope everyone is doing well and managing to stay cool in this Texas heat. As we continue forward with the IT transformation, and our phased approach to this unification, I wanted to provide a few updates.
Monthly Town Hall Meetings:
In an ongoing effort to provide periodic updates and opportunities for feedback, we will be hosting monthly town halls on the second Tuesday of every month through early next year. These town halls will serve as a forum to discuss important updates and changes, as well as an opportunity to answer your questions and address any concerns. We will dedicate a portion of each town hall specifically to Q&As, where questions can be asked live or submitted in advance here or via ITTransformation@untsystem.edu. The format for the town halls will be hybrid via Teams.
Please save the date for our next town hall on Tuesday, Aug. 8 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (meeting invite forthcoming). The August town hall will cover recently completed organizational changes and new reporting relationships, how we are evaluating various IT functions, career progression opportunities, and target dates for completing the reorganization.
