UNT|System Wireless Networking
The Information Technology Shared Services department supports an extensive wireless network that includes the UNT Denton, UNT Dallas, and downtown Dallas locations. The UNT|System enterprise wireless network accepts 802.11a/b/g/n client standards in the 2.4 and 5 GHz range, and provides WPA2-Enterprise security with AES encryption and RADIUS authentication. The network utilizes state-of-the-art wireless access points capable of handling speeds in excess of 100 Mbps; however, your actual speed and system throughput will vary depending on your location in a building, the number of other people using the network, and the type of equipment you are using.
Installation and Configuration Requirements
There are two ways to connect to the UNT|System enterprise wireless network, Open (no encryption) and WPA2-Enterprise (AES encryption). The table below shows which SSIDs and encryption methods are available at each campus.
To join an Open network simply choose the appropriate SSID from the list of available networks. Once you've connected to the wireless network you will be prompted to login with your EUID and password, either automatically, or the next time you open a web browser. Upon completion of the login process you will have access rights to surf the web.
To join one of the WPA2-Enterprise secure networks please follow the setup guides listed below. In addition to wireless security, these networks allow your device to automatically log in when a wireless signal is detected.
