October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and UNT System Information Security is encouraging faculty and staff to do their part by using best practices and staying alert for potential breeches in computer security. Cybersecurity is about maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of computer hardware, software and information.
Throughout the month of October, Information Security will be focusing on the potential dangers of phishing through our "Catch a Phish" awareness campaign. Employees are encouraged (as always) to submit any recent phishing emails to the security email inbox at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any submissions sent during the month of October will be entered into our random drawing for a prize. Please submit any phishing email received to the information security inbox as an attachment at email@example.com by October 31 to be entered into the drawing. Winners will be directly notified.
Securing the Human training will soon be available for employees. Please be aware that security training will need to be completed by December 31st.
Learn about security awareness training options for all faculty and staff, including part-time and student employees, on our security training page.
