The University of North Texas System strives to ensure that all Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) procured by the System are accessible to persons with disabilities. To reach this goal, those responsible for making decisions about which products to procure must consider accessibility during the acquisition process.
State of Texas laws require that Electronic and Information Resources (EIR) used, developed, procured, or distributed by Texas agencies and institutions of higher education are accessible to people with disabilities. Employees and procurement professionals should following institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines, including the UNT System EIR Accessibility Plan.
Effective April 18, 2020, unless an exception is approved by the president or chancellor of an institution of higher education or an exemption has been made for the following EIR categories pursuant to 1 Texas Administrative Code §213.37, all EIR developed, procured, or changed by an institution of higher education shall comply with Texas Administrative Code accessibility requirements (specifically 1 TAC §206 and 1 TAC §213) which reference standards contained within Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and subsequently require conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and Functional Performance Criteria.
