ITSS introduced Microsoft’s OneDrive and upgraded all EagleConnect accounts to Microsoft’s Office 365 to allow students to access the full range of Windows applications from all web-enabled devices through one platform, making everything from checking email to creating class presentations easier.

Checking email, marking calendars with important class due dates and working on group projects got a whole lot easier for students thanks to a recent move by UNT System Information Technology Shared Services (ITSS).

Last November, ITSS introduced Microsoft’s OneDrive and upgraded all EagleConnect accounts to Microsoft’s Office 365. OneDrive Business, previously known as SkyDrive Pro, allows students to access the full range of Windows applications from all web-enabled devices through one platform.
This cloud-computing platform is conveniently connected to each student’s EagleConnect account and allows streamlined editing, organizing and sharing documents using MS Office web apps such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint at no cost.

Other features include:

  • 50 GB of mailbox storage
  • 25 GB of OneDrive Pro cloud-based storage
  • Antivirus protection
  • Access to address book
  • Calendar function
  • Support for 25 languages
  • Chat capabilities

These are only a few of the benefits ITSS has been working on for students to make students’ lives easier so they can focus on schoolwork.
And although this platform is only available for students right now, a version for faculty and staff should be introduced at a future date.
